The house was abandoned many, many years ago and today only the walls can be reused. The house is more than 100 sqm, but it is probably possible to expand the building permit to 180 sqm. In addition, there is a remaining of an old stable, which can be replaced by a guest house. It is unfortunately not possible to see at the pictures, but the house has a very nice sea view all the way to Termini Imerese, 30 kilometers west.
Cefalu started as a simple fishing village perched between the sea and a steep, craggy limestone promontory. Thanks to a long sandy beach and a coastline considered to be one of the most beautiful on the island, Cefalu is now a thriving holiday destination. However the town has retained its medieval appearance and its glorious Romanesque cathedral still towers over the network of narrow streets lined with buildings featuring elaborate architectural decoration. The fishermen’s quarter, with its old houses clustered along the seafront, is a reminder of days gone by and is still in operation to this day.
Cefalu provides the gateway to the Madonie Park. Established in 1989, the area plays host to a wide variety of indigenous birds and animals including some 70 species of brightly coloured butterflies. Extending over some 98,000 areas, the park is densely wooded and provides endless scope for walkers, hikers and campers.
The 20,000 sqm land can be used for planting fruit trees of various kinds. The last owner used a mule for the last 300 m to the house. Today this perhaps is considered a bit impractical, and it can therefore be an advantage to construct a road all the way to the house.
